REVIVAL REPORT AND OTHER THINGS The revival with Troy Northrop was another great success. Every comment from members and friends was positive. People were talking how the messages blessed them and encouraged them to more faithful service. Each sermon had as its foundation the Word of God; this is how it should be. In fact, we here at MCC will have no other type of preacher fill our pulpit. Christ and His Word are still primary here. We still believe, “by the foolishness of preaching people will be saved”. 1 Corinthians 1:21 Those who were at none of the services or only at one or two missed some great challenges. Here are some of the facts and figures. The average attendance for all six services was 125; there were 51 people who made every service, 21 people missed only one service. It was good to have Troy and Beth back with us for a short visit and a time of refreshing. Our next two meetings are in the spring of 2009. 1. March 6th-8th, Friday – Sunday – Marriage Enrichment with Denny Coburn 2. April 19-22, Sunday-Wednesday Revival with Ray Bennett. Mark your calendar now, and plan to attend every session. Keep in mind the congregational yearly meeting, Sunday, October 26th for the approval of Elders, Deacons, and Budget. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the men who serve as Elders and Deacons. They give many hours of service to the Lord’s Church without any monetary gain. They, many times, are taken away from their families to handle some work for the church. We need to remember these men are human, too. They get tired, they get sick, they have family situations that need attention, they hurt when people say hurtful things and they do the work because they love Christ and His church. When is the last time you thanked one of these men? Remember to pray for them and their families. While you’re at it don’t forget our financial people, our teachers who prepare and teach, our nursery and toddler workers, our instrumentalists; I’m sure I missed some but you get the point. Here a reminder for you: at the writing of this letter there are only 77 days till Christmas, unless Jesus comes first. Just want to keep you on your toes. I’ll close with the following: Seven Easy Steps to Personal Work. 1. Unplug the T.V., computer, and radio. 2. Hide all reading material, such as newspapers, magazines and books. 3. Put a “Keep Off” sign on the easy chair and couch. 4. Pick up your Bible and exit your comfort zone. 5. Visit, call or write a person who needs to know the Lord or needs encouragement. 6. Teach the truth in love, be courteous and kind and learn to listen. 7. Keep your letter, phone call or visit short and to the point. Don’t tire them. Love you, Art
